“Winter Play” Collection Activities

Identifying Winter Play

Grades K-5

  • Individual Activity: Students look at the “Winter Play” Collections and tally up each Type of Play they see in the Collection: skating, snowshoeing, skiing, sledding, playing ball, playing with dolls (Key Word OR Pdf).
  • Class Activity: Educators use Images of “Winter Play” to Make Bingo Cards (see free Bingo Card generators online). Educators call out different types of winter play: skate, snowshoe, ski, sled, ball, dolls and students try and find them on their Bingo Cards.
  • Extensions: Students draw a picture that includes winter play in the snowy West, students create a new game for the snowy West, or students share their favorite winter “Play” in a show-and-tell, a drawing or other form.
