It’s the one-year anniversary of the first major lockdown where people on the West Coast were told by the government to stay in their homes or limit their activities to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In April 2020, the Autry Museum launched the Collecting Community History Initiative (CCHI): The West During COVID-19 to support communities in the West by saving objects from this moment of history.
For the past year, the Autry has collected submissions, objects sent in by people of the West during COVID-19. We invite you to explore these submissions and discover your own ways of expression during this time.
Each area of focus offers multiple activities from analyzing objects and works of art, responding to journal prompts or creating your own object, recipe, artwork and more. Participate in one, several or all of the following topics with various activities for expressing life during COVID-19.
