Description

Students will learn how women creators and decision makers were an important part of the American West despite their lack of recognition in portrayals of the West throughout time. Focusing on six women from various time periods and backgrounds, students will analyze objects from the Autry Museum’s collections that tell these women’s stories. Students will be given opportunities to interact by responding in the chat box about the works created by these women creators and their impact and by responding to polls that ask them to think about how they would have responded to events that women decision makers encountered. Throughout the webinar, time will be given for students to write responses of how each woman represents the American West. This program is intended for 8th grade, high school and post-secondary students.
