Tipi Audio Guide - Morning Star

A tan Native American hide shirt featuring a semicircular yoke decorated with white circles, a red and blue cross design in the center, and faint red and green designs on the lower edges.

Transcription

Now we’re here at the back of the tipi, the side that would normally face west. If you look at the upper portion of the tipi, the cross at the back is the Morning Star, which is an important element in Blackfeet spiritual beliefs. The circle below it, with the red outline, is the Sun.

The stories on this tipi is a small glimpse into our complex Blackfeet history. I do hope you get a chance to see Creative Continuities: Family, Pride and Community in Native Art. Thank you for taking the time to be with me.
