Begin your Sunday with conversation and an in-depth curator’s tour before the museum opens to the public. Morning at the Museum offers a quieter, more intimate way to experience the ideas and objects at the heart of an exhibition. 

Join Amanda Wixon, Assistant Curator of Native History and Culture, for a guided exploration of Promised Lands: California’s Unratified Treaties and Native Resilience. Through archival materials, contemporary objects, images, and voices from local tribal communities, the exhibition examines the history of federal treaties in California and the consequences of their failure to be ratified. The tour will consider this complex history alongside enduring Native relationships to place, community, and sovereignty. 

A light coffee reception will be offered from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The curator’s tour will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at approximately 10:30 a.m. 

Museum admission is included, and participants are welcome to continue exploring the Autry at their own pace after the tour.
