Teaching Tips for Different Learning Environments
Whole Class In-Person Learning: Student groups get all envelopes and sort into Union and Confederate, use post-its to provide evidence of why, attach work to Union & Confederate class posters for Gallery Walk and discussion.
Whole Class Distance Learning: Assign students different envelopes to identify in support of Union or Confederacy and share with class. Teacher can project envelope from pdf lesson as student(s) describe it. Combine Union envelopes on one presentation slide to project and ask students to identify the symbolism and do the same for the Confederate envelopes.
Tech Fun: Jamboard or Padlet to present an envelope and have students provide evidence for Union or Confederate and identify symbolism.
