The Autry Museum of the American West Hosts Its Eighth Annual Student Visual Arts Exhibition

Student Artwork

Student Artwork

(March 12, 2024 - Los Angeles, CA)—The Autry Museum of the American West presents the Students Visual Arts Exhibition, a juried exhibition for middle and high school students' artworks. The theme for the eighth annual Student Visual Arts Exhibition is Visions of Freedom.

For centuries, the American West has offered opportunities for freedom. Millions of people have looked to the American West as a place where they could secure freedoms not offered elsewhere. The Student Visual Arts Exhibition calls on the students of the American West to share their visions of freedom.

Sarah Wilson, the Director of Education at the Autry, says, “The Student Visual Art Exhibition is a platform for students across southern California—and beyond—to share their incredible artistic talents as well as the issues they want to talk about. The art created by the students is always thought-provoking, original and reflective of what is currently on the minds of young people.”

On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the opening reception and awards ceremony for the artists and the public is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Autry has also hired student DJs and photographers for the event.

Selected artwork will be on view through June 5, 2024, at the Autry Museum of the American West.
