I spent the very last day of February painting at the Grand Canyon. This view is from near Pima Point, looking at the great complex known as the Tower of Set. That evening, there was an unbelievable magic that occurred in the last few moments—the finale—of the winter’s day. The contrast of the vermilion glow against the dark ultra-marine shadows is a fleeting show, and spectacular to observe. It’s the sort of experience that brings people from all over the world to stand at the edge of Grand Canyon.
