The Autry Museum of the American West's National Day of the Cowboy and Cowgirl
(July 1, 2026—Los Angeles, CA) The Autry Museum of the American West invites you to its annual celebration of National Day of the Cowboy and Cowgirl. Dust off your boots, grab your cowboy hat, and head to the Autry for a day full of fun for the whole family!
Attendees can enjoy trick ropers, cowboy poetry, live music, country line-dancing lessons, film screenings, docent-led tours, and more. Live music, including Cowboy classics, will be provided all day by the Wandering Wranglers, The Tone Slingers, and Emily Rose and the Rounders. Kids can enjoy an Urban Saddles pony photo-op and grooming workshop, cowboy-themed crafts and music workshops in the Family Play Space, and Lil’ Buckaroo Trick Roping Lessons.
Take a break from the heat and tour the Autry’s newest exhibition Life, Liberty, and Los Angeles, view an Annie Oakley short film, and enjoy a curator-led discussion in the newly renovated Autry Theater. Explore the rest of the museum through themed docent-led tours focusing on firearms, women of the West, cowgirls and cowboys, and museum highlights. Partake in a Los Angeles Cowboy Poetry Gathering performance and writing workshop or try your hand at Old West card games with Pico Pistolero in our saloon. You can even learn Morse code by participating in an interactive telegraph workshop.
The Autry will host extended hours until 7 p.m. as well as a Street Food Cinema movie night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the Autry Lawn. Food Trucks and a cash bar will also be onsite. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, with free admission for children ages 12 and under.
