(August 26, 2026—Los Angeles, CA) The Autry Museum of the American West will host a screening of Maara'yam: The Yuhaaviatam Story during its Annual Block Party on Saturday, September 26. The documentary tells the story of the Maara'yam (Serrano) people of Southern California. Known as the Yuhaaviatam, or People of the Pines, they “carry a name and a story that is both ancient and alive.” This documentary brings that story to the screen, honoring a nation defined by resilience, sovereignty, and a profound connection to land, culture, and community. 

Due to mature themes and historical content, this film is recommended for audiences ages 18 and older. The screening will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Autry Museum Theater.
