Exhibition Spotlight Event | Survey Science Reimagined

Join us for an evening of exploration and discovery through the Autry’s newest exhibition Out of Site: Survey Science and the Hidden West. Gain a unique perspective from lead curator Amy Scott with artists Kim Stringfellow and Hillary Mushkin as they discuss the roles of survey science and visual art in recording, promoting and celebrating Western lands.  


Schedule of events:  

6 p.m. | Reception begins with light fare, beverages including wine and beer. Exhibition opens.

6:45 p.m. | Opening remarks by Stephen Aron, the Autry's Calvin and Marilyn Gross Director and President and CEO, followed by a discussion featuring:  

  • Amy Scott, Autry Vice President of Research and Interpretation and the Marilyn B. and Calvin B. Gross Curator of Visual Arts
  • Hillary Mushkin, Artist and Research Professor of Art and Design at California Institute of Technology
  • Kim Stringfellow, Artist and Professor Emeritus at San Diego State University School of Art & Design

7:30 p.m. | Discussion ends, and tours of the exhibition begin.

8:30 p.m. | Event ends.
