The arrival of the 19th century saw the North American Plains Indians at a turning point in history. A few Indians had heard of the white men but most had never seen one. The only thing of the white man’s world that had reached them was the horse. Trade goods had not gotten to them yet. Iron, cloth, beads, and many other items of the white man would change every part of their traditional lives. In this sculpture I have placed three hunters of the time who used the old way of providing meat for their tribe.
