This painting was inspired by a trip I made to Arizona during roundup time last spring. I followed these cowboys in the high plateau of their ranch while they were gathering cows. The immensity of the landscape, the heat, and the hard-working days are the usual routine for them. I’m always fascinated by the timeless aspect of their life. West of the Rio Grande is where the Wild West was expanding more than a hundred years ago. And here they still are, on horseback through hard terrains and open spaces, keeping the myth and the eternal beauty of the American West alive.
