Gene Autry's Melody Ranch

Artwork Image:

Since the year 2000, I have been developing the Los Angeles Millennium series to capture a snapshot of the best of the City of Angels at the start of the 21st century. This continually expanding series, which I plan to publish as a deluxe book, currently features 34 paintings that celebrate the historic architecture and vibrant cultures of my native Los Angeles.

A production studio for many of Hollywood’s most famous Western films and television shows—including The Lone Ranger and Gunsmoke —Melody Ranch was once owned by Gene Autry. This watercolor painting depicts a scene from this expansive Western town and includes an image of Autry and his on-screen companion, Champion the Wonder Horse, which lived on the ranch for many years.
