I love my research trips to Yosemite Valley although I had not been there in winter for a while. This moment was a total surprise, as I had passed this spot about 30 minutes earlier when it was completely in shadows and not very exciting. On my way back from picture taking along the river, I was stopped in my tracks by the shaft of light that was emerging from a small opening between the cliffs. The light had transformed the area into drama-filled beauty. The freshly fallen snow was untouched and seemed so pure that the title Purity seemed appropriate. I hope you enjoy this fleeting moment of beauty as much as I did.
