About the Event

Every other month, two Gene Autry films are screened in the Imagination Gallery’s Western Legacy Theater.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Gene Autry’s enlistment in the Army Air Corps to serve his country during World War II. Gene served from 1942 to 1946, entering the service as a technical sergeant and quickly earning his wings as a flight officer. At the end of the war he took a USO troupe to the South Pacific. Several of Gene’s films leading up to his military service, including this month’s double feature selections, referenced America’s participation in World War II.
