About the Event

Stop by and visit with the Chia Café Collective as they demonstrate and discuss their relationship with seasonal foods gathered in the fall, specifically acorns and pine nuts. Learn about processing and the relational importance of the plants to the California environment. A small sampling of recipes from their book, Cooking the Native Way, will be available to taste (while supplies last).

The Chia Café Collective is a grassroots collective of Southern California tribal members and collaborators committed to the revitalization of Native food, medicines, culture, and community. For more about the Chia Café Collective recipes, find Cooking the Native Way in the museum store.
