Educational Video
Artist-author J. Michael Walker discusses his project, All the Saints of the City of Angels, an artistic investigation into the place names of Los Angeles.
In the All the Saints of the City of Angels video Walker asks the question, “Is there a connection between the history of the streets and the stories of the saints those streets are named for?” Walker researched the why and how the street was named and about the saint, then took photos of the street of what life is like and tried to find and capture the spirit of the saint on each street. Using iconography, interviews from people on the street and more, Walker’s All the Saints of the City of Angels paintings tell a story of each Los Angeles saint-named street.
