Tim Holt came from an illustrious family of Western actors. His father, Jack, was a cowboy star during the silent and sound eras, and his sister Jennifer appeared in approximately forty Westerns during the 1940s. Although Holt played strong characters in a variety of genres, he is best known for his Western films, including Stagecoach (1939) and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1946). Holt ultimately starred in dozens of Westerns, primarily for RKO Radio Pictures. Like countless Western stars, Holt carried a Single Action Army. The grips on Holt’s revolver are made from Franzite, a plastic material designed to look like deer antlers.
