Clayton Moore had a long and distinguished career as an actor, but he will always be associated with one iconic role. Moore played the Lone Ranger on television from 1949 to 1951 and from 1954 to 1957. He also played the character in two feature films, and he donned the mask for over forty years of personal appearances. The Lone Ranger and his Native American sidekick Tonto roamed the West righting wrongs and helping the less fortunate. Throughout his adventures, the Lone Ranger always carried nickel-plated Single Action Armies with cream-colored grips, such as serial number 81584. The Lone Ranger used his guns and trademark silver bullets only as a last resort to disarm his opponents as painlessly as possible. He never shot to kill.
