The Autry in Griffith Park.
Our West is the prime exhibit location for our Autry Classroom Curators program. Through this unique outreach program, Autry staff work closely with local teachers and students to help support, fund, and premiere a variety of exhibitions and other presentations. Each program builds on the work of classroom teachers, the Autry’s mission to explore all the stories of the American West, and the keen insight and bold voices of the young people of Los Angeles.
This academic year promises wonderfully creative shows. The Autry currently features an exhibition by El Sereno Middle School students that responds to John Gast’s famous painting American Progress (on view in the Art of the West exhibition). Other exhibitions will come from students in Lincoln Park, Culver City, and other areas of Los Angeles.
