Native American Women in Film
Calling on the talents of Native American women working in the film industry as actors, directors, producers, and writers, this series examines the portrayal of Native Americans in contemporary film. Each feature will be followed by a complementary screening of a film selected by the UCLA Film and Television Archives. The series will also present a dialogue at each screening exploring the obstacles and opportunities for established and emerging Native American filmmakers. This film series is tied to the Autry’s upcoming exhibition, Home Lands: How Women Made the West, opening in April 2010. Free with museum admission. Special support provided by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
