Shop the Autry Store and museum plaza for a wide selection of gift items, fashion, art, jewelry, and more that are made, promoted, and marketed by women. Meet these creative entrepreneurs and learn how some of this attractive and creative merchandise is made by women’s cooperatives in developing countries.
11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Kumeyaay basketweavers will be on hand to demonstrate their artistry and sell their beautiful creations.
11:00 a.m – 12:30 p.m. Join artists Barbara Schade, Rita Joyce, Stephanie Pyren and Gwen Sandiff Wetzler for a continental breakfast in the Autry Store Gallery. These four accomplished artists have formed a salon, A. Muse. In the traditional sense, this salon has developed the ongoing discussion that has encouraged their creativity. This exhilarating exhibition is the result.
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Joan Tapper will sign copies of her book, The Wild West on 5 Bits a Day. This is the guidebook women in the 1800’s did not have to facilitate their travels. Complete with practical advice on where to stay, what to wear, and what to safely eat, this is the perfect introduction to the exciting days before the West was tamed. You’ve come a long way, baby!
1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Panel discussion: For All Our Tomorrows: How Women Leaders are Transforming California, Wells Fargo Theater. Marty Stevens-Heebner, owner and CEO of the successful enterprise, Rebagz will lead a panel discussion with members of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) on how women in business, while maintaining a dedication to social conscience, has made a difference in the state. Question and answer session follows.
3:00 – 4:30 p.m. Meet Nadiya Littlewarrior (Potawatomi, Cherokee), Native American Gourd Artist, and discuss her inspiration and her distinctive message. Nadiya has been creating her “Spirit Vessels” since 1993 and she has inspired countless young people with her teaching.
