Lola Worthington, Ph.D. candidate at UCLA, will lead this lecture and discussion of the boarding school system set up in the United States in the mid-to-late 1800s, which removed children from their homes and families on reservations and kept them in residence in strict boarding school environments as a means of assimilation.
