Sisters Rachel Hess and Shirley Slee, of Miwok and Paiute ancestry, are artists and designers who specialize in creating authentic Native American basketry and accessories. Their American Indian heritage runs deep into their designs and inspirations. Their great-grandmothers were world-class basketweavers from Yosemite Valley, and their mother, from whom they learned to weave, is also involved in Native American basketry. Join us as these sisters share how the traditions and culture influence their artistic process and learn basic skills to create your own row or section of the community basket!
