The Autry National Center, in collaboration with the UCLA Film and Television Archive, presents Native American Women in Film.  This fascinating series takes place on two Sundays, with January 24 featuring Older Than America (2008), the story of one woman’s haunting visions of a plot to keep her mother from speaking the truth about atrocities that took place at her Native American boarding school. This is a contemporary drama of suspense about the tragic legacy of the Indian boarding schools. Directed by acclaimed actress Georgina Lightning, it was filmed on the Fond du Lac reservation in northern Minnesota.  Director Georgina Lightning will appear in person for a discussion about the challenges and opportunities for Native American filmmakers.
