Navajo Rugs: Silent Auction and Weaving Demonstrations

Over 100 Navajo weavings, ranging from $100 to $10,000 in value, will be available at this silent auction. H. Jackson Clark, third-generation trader and owner of Toh-Atin Gallery in Durango, Colorado, will be on hand both days to direct the silent auction and give a lecture on the history of Navajo weaving, its importance, and how to collect and care for your Navajo textiles. Weaving demonstrations will continue all day. Absentee bids will be accepted, and all bidding closes at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
On display this year (it is not for sale) will be the largest weaving ever to win Best of Show at the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. This amazing work of art, woven by Mae Jim, is in the Ganado style and measures 10 by 15 feet. This is only the second time it has been shown in public since winning the award in 1988.
