Join us as Stephen Fried discusses his latest book, Appetite for America: How Visionary Businessman Fred Harvey Built a Railroad Hospitality Empire That Civilized the Wild West. Through his 65 restaurants and lunch counters, 60 dining cars, a dozen large hotels, and major union stations from Chicago to Los Angeles, Fred Harvey controlled what many Americans ate, where they slept, what they bought and wore, even what they thought about their country. Lecture followed by refreshments and book signing.
The Golden Spur Cafe will be serving a special course from the Fred Harvey cookbook the same day. Come hungry!
