The Intertribal Arts Marketplace and the Autry National Center abide by the American Indian Arts and Craft Act of 1990 . All artwork sold on the grounds of the Intertribal Arts Marketplace is sold by the American Indian artist who has created the piece.

Artists compete in a juried competition for awards and prizes in seven categories and Best of Show. Each year one piece from the competition receives the Jackie Autry Purchase Award and is added to the museum's permanent collection.
