In his first starring role, Roy Rogers is elected to Congress in hopes of bringing water to ranchers in his district. The film was originally written for Gene Autry, but a disagreement with Republic Pictures paved the way for the future “King of the Cowboys.” Jeffrey Richardson, Associate Curator of Film and Popular Culture, will discuss the film’s production and the museum’s recent acquisition of key artifacts relating to Roy Rogers. A variety of Roger’s artifacts, including his one-of-a-kind Plastic Rose Parade Saddle, will be on display throughout the museum.
35 mm print provided by the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
