For a Few Dollars More (1965)
Directed by Sergio Leone
Starring Clint Eastwood

In the 1960s, a group of Italian filmmakers brought European sensibilities and filmmaking techniques to the Western, a uniquely American tradition. The most popular of these “Spaghetti Westerns” were directed by Sergio Leone.

The films of the Man with No Name (or Dollars) Trilogy combined understated acting, violent action, beautiful landscapes, and hypnotic music to reinvent the Western genre. The films boosted the career of director Sergio Leone and made actor Clint Eastwood an international star.

Many artifacts related to Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone are on display in the Autry’s Imagination Gallery. Putting the genre into a larger historical context, the gallery shows how the Western evolved in response to social and cultural changes taking place in America during the twentieth century.
