The sins of a ruthless and corrupt Federal officer come back to haunt him in an almost cruel way. This film is packed with authentic cultural details both in costumes and customs. De Fuentes shows the cruel excesses of the Federales but does not extoll the revolutionaries as martyrs. The story seems to say that a harsh government will always inspire rebels, and that rebels should not expect to live a long life.
Followed by a tour of Siqueiros in Los Angeles: Censorship Defied at 3:30 p.m.
