Audio Guides

The Autry National Center is offering adults and children a whole new way to explore our galleries with audio tours. Visitors can choose the artifacts or works of art you want to learn more about and hear brief presentations, with quotes, music and sound effects to inspire a closer look. Families will find specially created scripts to help them talk about what they see, think about key moments in time and learn about the history of the American West.

Player rentals are available at the museum for free to Autry National Center Members and $3 for non-members.

Museum Highlights Tour

In 1988, Gene Autry, "America's Favorite Singing Cowboy," realized a dream by building, in his words, "a museum which would exhibit and interpret the heritage of the West, and show how it has influenced America and the world."

This audio tour guides you through the museum to hear the stories behind the most unusual and important pieces of Western art and artifacts that are on display.

Western Resources Tour

Through examining specific historical artifacts in the museum, this audio tour examines our relationship with the unique Western environment, and the impact environment and resources, both abundant and scarce, have on Western identity, politics, society, and culture.

Violence and Justice Tour

This audio tour guides you through the museum’s extensive collection of artifacts that illustrate historical aspects surrounding the myths of gunslingers and outlaws, domestic and racial violence that both shape and distort our understanding of the West.

Voices of Native America Tour

Narrated by Native Americans, this audio tour takes the visitor throughout the museum to learn more about the Native American perspective as they share the histories, cultures, and concerns of indigenous peoples in their own voice.

West as Crossroads Tour

Welcome to the Autry's audio tour exploring the West as global crossroads. What makes the West unique? The remarkable convergence of cultures that continue to come together in the American West results in a homeland like no other in the world.
