
Cyrus Afsary
< >Cyrus Afsary studied art under the strict discipline of the Russian Realist style of painting, graduating with two degrees. He is an artist member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame and a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group. He participates annually in the Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition and Sale at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City; the National Association of Western Artists show; the prestigious Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale at the Autry National Center of the American West; the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art’s Quest for the West Art Show and Sale in Indianapolis, Indiana; and the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming. He was featured in the 2002 Gilcrease Museum Rendezvous Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
His work has won numerous awards, including Best of Show at the C. M. Russell Auction of Original Western Art and the Exceptional Merit Award from the National Arts Club at the 1986 Pastel Society of America Show. He has also received gold and silver medals from the National Academy of Western Art and was the first recipient of the coveted Robert M. Lougheed Memorial Award. Afsary won the Painting Award and was co-winner of the Artists’ Choice award for Mystical Transformation at the Buffalo Bill Art Show in 2006.He was awarded Best of Show at the 2007 Quest for the West Art Show and Sale.
His work has appeared in the periodicals American Artist, Art of the West, Southwest Art, and Western Art Collector, and he has been listed in Who’s Who in American Art and Who’s Who in the West.
