4th Annual Plein Air Paintout and Lunch

Saturday, October 27, 2007
Abalone Cove Shoreline Park
(Open only to Masters Silver-level sponsors and above)

Guests enjoyed a special day with the artists as they painted along the California Coast!
Sponsored by Darlene and Durwood Barnett

Plein air is a French word that, literally translated, means "open air." The term refers to painting or drawing outside in the open air. California has a long history of Plein Air painters, whose style is reminiscent of the French Impressionists and the Barbizon School. Plein Air painters take their subject matter directly from nature, infusing their work with light, color, and movement.

"It was a very special event this year. The artists enjoyed the challenge of an overcast day at Abalone Cove. Each artist uniquely utilized the diminished light and cloud formations to create dramatic seascapes."
