FESTIVAL OF THE HORSE
Family Festival
Come enjoy this special weekend dedicated to the diverse cultures that used the horse in the American West. The day will include roping and riding demonstrations by several distinct groups including Mexican Charros, Plains Indian Bareback Riders, California Vaqueros, Texas Cowboys, Spanish Caballeros, Buffalo Soldiers, and other cultural groups. The event will also include pony rides, demonstrations of riding gear and its uses, musical performances, movies in the Wells Fargo Theater (e.g., Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Gene Autry Films, The Cowboys-starring John Wayne, and others), craft activities, booths selling equestrian equipment and related items, and other festival related events.




Luis Ortega’s Rawhide Artistry: Braiding in the California Tradition is organized by
the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
