2010 Summer Adventures

Autry Adventures Summer Camps are a fun and exciting learning adventure! Campers explore the museum and have countless opportunities to learn and explore, play, have fun and be creative.
Led by experienced museum teachers, each week-long adventure has an age-appropriate theme, which allows campers to explore the museum's collections and exhibitions, inspiriting their imaginations and creating opportunities for fun-filled creative self-expression. Campers will get a unique perspective on the past through interacting with artifacts, enjoying stories of real people and discovering their connection to history. Camps will feature crafts, discussions, games and activities along with tours of the museum galleries.
Half Day (9:00 a.m.–Noon; Ages 5-7)
Autry members: $145.00/Non-members: $185.00
Full Day (9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; Ages 8-12)
Autry members: $240.00/Non-members: $300.00

Autry Adventures Western Ranger Camp (June 28 – July 2)
Are you a nature-lover? Through hands-on activities, games and hikes in nearby Griffith Park, Autry Rangers will learn ways to help preserve and protect their environment while discovering how important wildlife and plants were to Native Americans and pioneers in their everyday life.
Autry Adventures in Western Art (July 5 – July 9)
Come discover your artistic nature! Explore the museum galleries and learn about the art created by people who call the West home. Using different media, including pottery, painting and photography, students will be inspired to create their own visions of the West.
Spaghetti Western Movie Camp (July 12 – July 16)
Relive the Old West by acting it out! Play improvisational games and stage stories and folklore, and then put it all on film for a week ending movie premier.
Wild Western Safari (July 19 – July 23)
Let the call of the wild entice you to explore your inner beast! Join us for an exciting week, as you discover the animals of North America. Draw, sculpt, and track the mysterious creatures that roam our land! You will end your fun filled week with a trip to the Los Angeles Zoo
Who Settled the West? (July 26 – July 30)
Have you every dreamed of being a vaquero, a mountain man or running a Chinese restaurant? Examine different communities that settled the West through real life family stories. Find out how people lived, worked and played and how you and your family are part of the American West.
